Privacy Policy

How we handle your data across EC Trade services.

1. Overview

EC Trade operates two main services: the edencom.net website and ECT EVE Assets desktop application. These are independent fan-made tools for EVE Online and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to CCP Games hf.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

This Privacy Policy is part of our Terms of Service. By using our services, you agree to both documents.

2. Data Controller

EC Trade services are operated as a hobbyist project. For purposes of applicable data protection laws, EC Trade is the data controller for personal information collected through the buyback service. For the desktop application, you are the controller of your own locally-stored data.

3. Age Requirements

EC Trade services are intended for users who meet EVE Online's age requirements (13 years or older). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete such information.

4. ECT EVE Assets (Desktop Application)

ECT EVE Assets is a local-first application. All your data is stored on your computer - we do not operate servers that store your personal information.

Data Stored Locally

  • OAuth tokens (encrypted via OS-level secure storage)
  • Character and corporation information
  • In-game data from ESI (assets, orders, contracts, industry jobs, wallet, blueprints, clones)
  • User preferences (theme, display settings)

External Services

The application communicates directly with these services from your computer:

  • EVE Online SSO & ESI (CCP Games, Iceland) - Authentication and character data
  • edencom.net - Item/location names (type IDs only, no personal data)
  • mutamarket.com - Abyssal pricing (item IDs only, no personal data)
  • GitHub (USA) - Application updates (no personal data)

What We Don't Collect

No analytics, telemetry, usage tracking, or error reporting. Your character names, assets, and wallet data are never sent to EC Trade servers.

5. edencom.net Website

General Usage

Most services (reference data, economic reports, map) require no login and collect no personal information. We do not use Google Analytics, Tag Manager, or advertising trackers.

Infrastructure & Data Transfers

Our infrastructure involves the following third-party services which may process data internationally:

  • Cloudflare (USA/Global) - DNS/CDN with aggregated analytics (page views, countries). See Cloudflare Privacy Policy
  • Self-hosted infrastructure - Application hosting on managed VPS infrastructure behind Cloudflare with standard server logs for security and operations.

6. Buyback Service

Legal Basis for Processing

We process buyback data based on legitimate interest (providing the service you requested) and, where applicable, your consent when logging in via EVE SSO.

Quote Calculator (Public)

Anyone can generate quotes without logging in:

  • Item lists stored anonymously with a reference code
  • Quote summaries reported to Discord for operations
  • Quotes expire and are deleted after 24 hours
  • IP addresses used for rate limiting only (not stored persistently)

Authenticated Access (EC Trade Members)

Full access requires EVE SSO login and EC Trade [ECTRA] membership:

  • We request publicData scope only
  • Character name, ID, and corporation ID collected
  • Sessions last 7 days
  • Single HTTP-only cookie for authentication

We do not access your wallet, assets, contracts, or mail.

7. Data Retention

  • Buyback quotes: Deleted automatically after 24 hours
  • Session data: Deleted after 7 days of inactivity or upon logout
  • Server logs: Retained by infrastructure providers per their policies
  • Desktop app data: Stored locally until you remove the character or uninstall the application

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data
  • Restriction: Request that we limit processing of your data
  • Data Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format
  • Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time

9. Your Control

  • Log out anytime to end your buyback session
  • Quotes expire automatically after 24 hours
  • Remove characters from ECT EVE Assets to delete local data
  • Uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data
  • Revoke app access via EVE's Third Party Applications page

10. Discord Community

We operate a Discord community server at discord.gg/dexSsJYYbv as a community hub for EVE Online players.

Discord is a third-party platform operated by Discord Inc. Your use of Discord is subject to Discord's Privacy Policy. We do not control and are not responsible for Discord's data collection practices.

Information you share in Discord (messages, usernames, profile data) is subject to Discord's terms. We may receive notifications of messages and activity within our server for moderation purposes.

11. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption for all communications, secure token storage, and minimal data collection. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

12. Updates

This policy may be updated periodically. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
